Day Two – 31 Days to Building a Better Blog

Posted by deem on February 8, 2009

I need one individual to audit my blog and answer the following questions.

  • What are your first impressions?
  • What did you first think the blog was about when you arrived at it?
  • Did you find it easy to read/navigate/understand?
  • What did you ‘feel’ when you first arrived at the blog?
  • What suggestions do you have on how I could improve this blog?
  • What questions do you have having surfed the blog?
  • What words would you use to describe the design?
  • What are the main things that you remember about the blog 10 minutes later?

5 personally, I’d have RSS and Shelfari lower down and posts and categories higher up
6 Not being able to get into family – so it seems to be a personal blog

    Hope it all helps

It was very easy to navigate around on your blog. I thought it was your personal blog. It was very easy to read/navigate and understand. I was very interested with what you had written and felt very comfortable.
    Great Job Deanna!!!!

    Mike:

Thank you for auditing my blog. Yes now that you and another person have used the word “personal” I guess that is the best category for my blog to be placed. I use the blog as a means of tracking resources I find which can be used either at work or personally and I also test applications on my blog before I place them on our school library blog.

The blog is also used to keep family members up to date on our family activities. Our family members are scattered around the globe and this is a great way for them to see what we have been up to. The family page was just added yesterday (password protected) because I had embedded video from my sons orchestra concert which contained other students. The Family page will be removed today or tomorrow.

I guess the core elements would be interesting ideas, technology and applications I find for use at school and home. I also see the blog as a one stop resource for ideas. I probably need to set up some type of organization system if I want others to use the blog as a resource.

Yes I agree the the RSS and Shelfari need to moved down.

Thanks for your time. Your comments made me look at the blog in the totally different way. I will be making changes over the next few weeks.

    Cheers back to you.

    Deanna
